In their research-driven creative practice, natural or artificial phenomena are reinterpreted, by framing out any element that might disrupt the subtlety of the observation. By carefully crafting a specific apparatus for each work, they build situations and conditions for the audience to experience an embodied encounter with phenomena in gentle, continuous flux, whose sense of liveliness is nurtured by the artists’ attention to composition and dramaturgy. Through minimalist interventions, daring to do less and to trust the curiosity of the audience about the behaviour of things, Club Efemeer allows them to witness the emergence of natural or artificial phenomena, their unfolding in time, and to embrace the inherent fragility of their elusive presence.
At the border between seeing and imagining, Club Efemeer invites a slowing down of the gaze, a suspended sensation that allows the audience to think, dream, imagine and wander in their minds. The contemplative or even hypnotic states that the works propose aim at triggering their imagination and memories, at connecting them with their inner worlds while remaining attentive to the behaviour of phenomena. Operating both as a mirror of their own minds and a lens to observe and interpret the world before the imposition of conventional understanding, Club Efemeer’s works allow the audience to experience a sense of wonderment, of child-like amazement that invites them to perceive the world anew.
